Location targeting

Pick the exit country, US state or city for NyxonProxies requests. Which products support which level, the exact values to use and how to check the result.

You choose where a request exits by adding location parameters to the proxy username. How deep you can go depends on the product: Residential goes down to a US state, a city or a network (ASN), Mobile to a country and a carrier, and the other rotating products to the country.

Targeting by product

ProductCountryUS stateCityASN
ResidentialYesYesYes, inside a stateYes
MobileYesNoNoYes, carrier
Residential BudgetYesNoNoNo
Unlimited ResidentialYesNoNoNo
Datacenter, Shared ISP, IPv6US poolsNoNoNo

Datacenter, Shared ISP and the two IPv6 products draw from US pools, so there is nothing to choose and no location parameter to add.

The proxy generator loads the live list of countries, states and cities for the product of the plan you select, with a search box for each level. The lists differ per product, so a country that one product covers may be missing from another.

Every country has its own page under Locations, with the products that cover it and ready-made lines, for example Germany or the United States.

Country

Add -country- and the two-letter ISO code in lower case:

text
USERNAME-country-us
USERNAME-country-gb
USERNAME-country-br

Without a country, the gateway picks exits from the whole pool, which gives you the most IPs to rotate through. Leave the country out when the location of the IP does not matter.

US state

On Residential you can narrow a US exit to a state. The value is the state name in lower case with the spaces removed:

text
USERNAME-country-us-state-california
USERNAME-country-us-state-newyork

City

City targeting on Residential works inside a US state, so the username carries both:

text
USERNAME-country-us-state-california-city-losangeles
USERNAME-country-us-state-texas-city-sanantonio

In the generator, pick the state first and the city list fills with the cities of that state.

US states and cities

These are the values the Residential catalog accepted when this page was written. The generator always shows the current list.

ASN and carrier

An ASN (autonomous system number) identifies the network an IP belongs to, such as a home internet provider or a mobile carrier. On Residential and Mobile you can ask for exits on one network by adding -asn- and the number, after the country:

text
USERNAME-country-us-asn-7922
USERNAME-country-gb-asn-25135

The first line asks for a US residential IP on Comcast (AS7922). The second asks for a UK IP on Vodafone (AS25135), which on a Mobile plan is a Vodafone mobile connection. Look up the ASN of a provider with any ASN lookup service, and write only the digits.

In the proxy generator, the ASN field appears once you pick a country: on Mobile it lists the carriers of that country, and on Residential you type the number. An ASN narrows the pool more than a country does, so keep it for work that depends on the network, such as checking what customers of one carrier see.

Combine location with a session

Location and session parameters go in the same username, location first:

text
USERNAME-country-us-state-florida-city-miami-session-a1b2c3d4-time-30

Every connection with this username keeps the same Miami IP while the session holds. See Rotating and sticky sessions.

Narrow targets have fewer IPs

The deeper you target, the smaller the group of IPs you rotate through. A country has far more exits than a city. For large rotating jobs, target the widest level that still meets your needs, and keep city targeting for work that really depends on it, such as local search results or regional prices.

Check the location

Geolocation databases do not always agree with each other, so test the exit with the same kind of service your target uses. A quick check that prints the IP, city and country:

bash
curl -x http://USERNAME-country-us-state-california-city-losangeles:[email protected]:8080 https://ipinfo.io/json

The generator also has a built-in tester that reports the exit IP, location and network of a line. More ways to check are in Check your proxy IP.
