FoxyProxy

Add NyxonProxies to the FoxyProxy extension in Chrome and Firefox: proxy fields, switching from the toolbar, patterns, SOCKS5 in Firefox and several usernames.

FoxyProxy Standard is a free, open-source proxy extension for Chrome and Firefox. It sets the proxy for the browser only, stores the username and password, and switches between proxies from the toolbar.

The examples use the Residential gateway, geo.gw.nyxon.sh with port 8080. Other products have their own host and port, listed in Endpoints and ports.

Add the proxy

  1. Install FoxyProxy Standard from the Chrome Web Store or Firefox Add-ons.
  2. Click the FoxyProxy toolbar button and choose Options.
  3. Open the Proxies tab and click Add.
  4. Fill in the fields:
FieldValue
TitleA name you will recognise, such as NyxonProxies US
TypeHTTP
Hostnamegeo.gw.nyxon.sh
Port8080
UsernameUSERNAME-country-us
PasswordPASSWORD
  1. Click Save.

If you leave Username and Password empty, the browser asks for them itself when the first page loads.

Turn it on

Click the FoxyProxy toolbar button and choose the proxy by its title. Every tab now uses it. Choose Disable to go back to a direct connection.

Proxy by Patterns sends only the sites that match a proxy's patterns through it and leaves the rest direct.

Countries and sessions

Put targeting and a session in Username, for example USERNAME-country-de-session-a1b2c3d4-time-30 to keep one German IP for 30 minutes. See Username parameters.

FoxyProxy stores credentials per hostname and port. Two entries for geo.gw.nyxon.sh:8080 with different usernames therefore share one login.

  • In Firefox, add a letter to the port of each extra entry, such as 8080a and 8080b. FoxyProxy removes the letter before connecting, and each entry keeps its own username.
  • In Chrome, keep one entry per hostname and port, and change its username to switch. Then restart Chrome: it keeps sending the first username it signed in with until it closes.

SOCKS5

FoxyProxy can send a SOCKS5 username and password in Firefox only, because Chrome does not support SOCKS authentication. In Firefox, choose SOCKS5 as Type, use port 1080 and keep Proxy DNS on, so the gateway resolves hostnames. In Chrome, use HTTP.

Check the IP

Select the proxy and open https://ipinfo.io/json. It should show a NyxonProxies IP in the country you targeted.

Troubleshooting

What you seeWhat to check
The browser asks for a username and passwordUsername or Password is empty in the entry.
Sites still show your own IPThe proxy is not selected in the toolbar menu, or Proxy by Patterns is on and the site matches no pattern.
The wrong countryAnother entry with the same hostname and port provides the login. See Countries and sessions above.
Pages fail to loadThe host, port and credentials belong to the same product.
